radarlThe Situation

Advanced communication technologies are the backbone of military Command, Control, Communications, Computer and Intelligence (C4I) networks. As C4I evolves, existing resources must be consolidated into these complex systems. A large military contractor needed to integrate a proprietary legacy system with new C4I software. The legacy system's communication protocols and electronic signals were incompatible with the PC-based C4I algorithms and the systems could not operate together.

The Challenge

The legacy system's communication protocol and its electronic signals did not match the standard PC signals and serial protocol. The military contractor turned to Com-N-Sense for an adaptation and conversion solution to avoid expensive modification of the legacy hardware. In addition, the high data rates required custom handling by Com-N-Sense that was not available in an off-the-shelf solution.

The Solution

Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence

Com-N-Sense identified a COTS hardware card that could be adapted to handle the required electronic signals and data rates. Working closely with the card manufacturer, Com-N-Sense obtained matching hardware and a unique set of drivers to handle the communications. Com-N-Sense also supplied a software solution to handle the high data rates and integrate it into the C4I software. Through effective coding skill and creative thinking, Com-N-Sense saved the customer from an expensive hardware replacement project.
